About the Role

We are looking for an energetic self-starter to join our team in the role of Junior Finance Manager. You will work directly with our General Manager to oversee the financial operations of our business. You will monitor the company’s finances and produce financial reports, and you will also work closely with management to develop and implement strategies and plans to achieve the company’s long-term objectives, and also lead and develop members of the finance team. You will use your in-depth analytical skills to help your fellow executives understand the financial health of the organization for improved decision making.

The ideal candidate is one who aspires to rapidly advance into a senior finance executive role. Core responsibilities:


Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A): Develop financial plans, including budgeting and forecasting for the short and long term. This involves analyzing financial trends, projecting future revenues and expenses, and making recommendations for the business's financial strategy.

Financial Reporting and Compliance: Prepare accurate monthly and annual financial reports in compliance with accounting standards. Ensuring the company meets all its regulatory obligations and financial reporting requirements.

Strategic Decision Support: Providing financial insights and analysis to support strategic business decisions. This involves working closely with senior management to align financial strategy with overall business objectives.

Cash Flow Management: Ensure adequate cash flow is maintained to meet operational demands and seize investment opportunities. This includes managing working capital efficiently, forecasting cash flow needs, and arranging financing as necessary.

Tax Planning and Compliance: Oversee the company’s tax planning to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations. This includes strategic planning around tax issues and staying updated on tax law changes.

Relationship Management with Financial Institutions: Maintain and build relationships with banks, lenders, and investors. This includes managing lines of credit, negotiating loan terms, and communicating financial performance.

Team Leadership and Development: Lead and manage one accounting employee (and more as we grow), ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to perform effectively. This also involves mentoring staff and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency.

Requirements

Educational Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A master’s degree (such as an MBA) or professional certifications (like CPA or CMA) is highly desirable.


Professional Experience:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in financial management roles, complemented by 3+ years in accounting, is desired, particularly with experience in the manufacturing sector and growth-stage companies.

  • Proven track record in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.

  • Experience in preparing financial reports and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and legal requirements.

  • Experience with cash flow management and business financing.

  • Knowledge of cost accounting and experience in cost reduction initiatives.


Skills and Competencies:

  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Amharic.

  • Good oral, written, and communication/presentation skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide actionable insights from financial data.

  • Attention to detail and precision in financial reporting.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • A proactive approach to contributing ideas, feedback, and suggestions.

  • Highly self-motivated and proactive, with a constant pursuit of self-improvement.
